2 Balloch to Strathblane

This section of the route follows a mixture of minor public roads, natural and built paths (the West Highland Way) and farm / forestry tracks. On the cycle braid there is a relatively long section on minor road between Balloch and Croftamie. There are great views from the West Highland Way between Dumgoyne and Strathblane, though some sections are steep with a loose surface and it's very likely that cyclists will need to push in places. With planning this can be bypassed on public roads. The walkers route has less distance on the road and also takes in the newly built path over the Kilpatrick Hills. Be aware that the new walkers route commits you to roughly 13km of 'upland' path which is relatively steep and challenging in a few places - walking poles are recommended on this section. Public toilets are located at Balloch Pier, Balloch bus station, the railway station, in the Co-operative and in Balloch Country Park.
